"This plane doesn't get thrown around as much as I thought it would," said Evan Longoria on a flight with five-time U.S. National Aerobatic Champion and two-time Red Bull Air Race World Champ Kirby Chambliss. "Oh, we'll rock your world here in a minute," replied Chambliss with a grin.
During Spring Training, three-time All Star third baseman Evan Longoria officially earned his wings by joining Chambliss for an aerobatic ride over Tampa, Florida, in a custom two-seater. Longoria saw local landmarks, including his home field, from high above the skyline.
Longoria experienced snap rolls, upright blind spins, felt the airplane go tail over nose several times and went 90 miles an hour backwards. After cartwheeling end-over-end and living through it, Evan said, "I thought we were going down. It went black there for a second. I'm a bit light-headed, but I didn't throw up."

One of baseball’s superstars, the 26-year old Longoria has energized the city of Tampa, starting with a Rookie of the Year campaign in 2008 through last season when he hit a walk-off homerun in extra innings of the last game of the season to send his team into the post-season.
This marks Longoria’s first project as a Red Bull athlete, where he joins a roster of high performers including Tim Lincecum, Blake Griffin, Rajon Rondo, Deron Williams, Lindsey Vonn, Reggie Bush, DeMarcus Ware and close to 500 others worldwide.

Portrait Series of Florida Surfers

Sometimes when you buy new equipment it gets you excited to go out and shoot. Today that was my intention. Although, when I got to the beach I changed my plans and decided to keep things simple. Here are a few of the portraits I shot on the beach at the Landshark New Smyrna Pro.  These portraits are of professional surfers from around Florida. Including the winner of the contest Gorkin. Enjoy.

Behind the Scenes :|: Jesse Heilman Portrait shoot

Gear list:

Canon 1ds mark III
600mm Canon f/4
70mm-200mm canon f/2.8
Profoto 7b pack
7b Flash Head
Uncle Sam- 1 stop shoot through Umbrella
Benro Tripod w/ Gimbal head

My goal for the shoot was to take a nice portrait of Jesse Heilman with the power lines lining up in the background. We arrived on location about two hours before sunset. Once we found our shooting location we started setting up. All of the sudden Jesse yelled ahhhh! Your car just shocked the hell out of me. I walked over to check it out. That's when we noticed my roof rack was humming with electricity. My face became numb soon after and almost everything we touched would shock us. The strobes would fire if you raised them too high and some how in all of this we managed to come away with a nice photo. I now understand the joke you about growing up under the power lines.
